David Bradley tractors

Anyone have one of these? How hard are they to get parts (only used off Ebay?)? Do they work well on their little plow? How well do the front sickles work?

It looks like they use both Clinton and Briggs engines - correct?

Anyone have a ready supplier for the 16" ag tires they appear to use?

Next week I'm going to watch one sell and maybe bid on it.

I have had one for a very long time and have not used it in many years. I have the plow the disk cultivator harrow and sickle mower and the engine is an original engine which if I remember right was a 2.5 hp Briggs. I did pretty good for what they where back in the day. They had a lot of pull power. I used one once to pull a car that I had that had died on me and pulled it about 100 yards back to the house. Or did I push it do not remember for sure but it did the job

I never saw one with a Clinton engine. I'm pretty sure the older ones used Briggs and Contential. They used Wisconsin on one model. The last ones used Tecumseh. I have used one for plowing and cultivating, Good little garden tractor.

I have several different brands of walk-behind garden tractors and in my opinion the David Bradley's are the most "usable". Large tires so they put the power to the ground, good variety of tools that are easy to change, and enough of them around that parts are obtainable. Most that you see have a very basic drive system with a fixed speed with no reverse and ratchet clutches in the wheels. However, some later models had a neat variable speed sheave system, reverser, and a true locking differential. I have one of the former and one of the later which is the one I use the most. It will pull the plow about 4" deep in our clay soil and works very well with the cultivator and sickle mower.

M.E. Miller has tires to fit the different models (some had 16" while others were 15") but be prepared to spend $100+ each for new rubber. A pair of used 6.5x16 truck tires would also work, especially if they are traction tread. This isn't as "non original" as it sounds since you could buy new DB's without tires specifically to do this with.

Tucker Tire on eBay has the best deal on tires.
These trators have shot up in value as gas prices rise and people don't want to haul heavy tractors to shows.
A collection take less storage space too.

I have an old homade yard trailer, with David Bradley wheels on it. I don't use it, but the wheels are still ok. RJ.
Oh, i did have a David Bradley 2 wheel tractor, i remember now! It had a snow plow blade on it, but no other attachments. I traded it for an air-operated sander used for auto body work. That was around 1960 or so.
