Kohler CH25S oil consumption

I have a Kohler CH25S on lawnmower It was using about 1/2qt of oil for 4 hours mowing and now using 1qt It will foul the plug on one cylinder. It is not leaking anywhere. Do I have valve seal problem or am I looking at piston and rings? What should compression be on the cylinders? Could a head gasket cause this problem? Thanks

Some of the Command Horizontal engines had problems with a reed valve in one of the pushrod ports. Can'r remember which one. There was a service bulliten on it. It worked with the crankcase breather to keep vacum in the crankcase.

There were also some updates to the crankcase breather on another bulletin, but usually they start leaking externally between the cylinders.

Depending on the age, it could be a head gasket, Kohler had an issue with that engine a few years back. Or could be the reed valve also, you need to do a cylinder leakdown test to find out for sure where the problem is.
