JD110 differences.

I have 2 JD 110. Mechanically, they appear to be the same.

T0641 447 - I am not sure about the numbers, the tag was painted and severely warped like it was on fire. No space for 110 in front of the 447. The wiring is all butchered. First, I want to make the engine run, then I will deal with the electrical. Flywheel has a crack in it. Not getting spark. Is this like the tecumseh coil where the alternator sends power to the coil?

T0641 110431M- Engine smokes badly but ran.

Engines are Kohler 181.

0139234 on one. 1969 The other is painted and I doubt I will get a number off of it. Go figure, I bought it from a guy that rebuilds classic cars. You would think he knew how to put tape over tags. Even the ammeter glass is painted!

Now, I have to decide which will be the worker and which will be the parts machine. I am the second owner of both. They each were passed along in separate families. One was meticulously cared for. The other was frankensteined together. Has wheel barrow wheels on the front and one wide zero turn wheel on the back. Wiring is all butchered.

My goal is to use it as a snowplow and trailer mover only.
 
The k181 used 3 different types of ign systems.

1-points/mag coil(rotor type or flywheel magnet ring)

2-points/12v coil

3-solid state(breakerless)
If you have solid state system you'll have a trigger module mounted on block over flywheel with 2 wires on it,1 wire goes to a seperate winding on alt stator to power module,other goes to coil which will have an epoxy D shaped case with a single quick disconnect on bottom of coil.If you have this system check pg 8.5 of K series service manual to troubleshoot system or download manual from K series at kohler engines website.
