Kohler 275 hours

I have a Kohler Command 25 that had been running good. It died and would not start. Thinking a fuel problem I changed the plugs, fuel filter, and checked the lines and fuel pump. Now it will start and runs rough and dies after a few minutes. Any ideas?

There is a part on the carb that looks like an accelerator pump. This is on a CH25 horizontal engine. I would check that and clean the carb out.

Are you sure fuel is being pumped into the carb bowl? Put fuel line from fuel pump to carb in a plastic bottle. Crank engine. It should be pumping fuel.

If you have two gas tanks, make sure both tanks have some gas in them. If the transfer valve is faulty, air will be introduced intot he fuel system.

I have a kohler command 20 hp on a terramite loader/backhoe. When it runs ruff, I remove the air filter and use a small blast of air to clean out the 3 tiny jets inside the carb just above the throttle plate. Each puff of air causes gas to spray out. That's how I clean my carb, works for me. I've done it a few times. Yours may be different. I also found that going one step hotter on the plugs works better. I have about 1400 hours on my engine. Doesn't use oil and works great.
