Just looked at a used Simplicity with 38" cut with hydro drive and electric deck clutch.
Has a 15HP Kohler engine.
Never had the hydro Dr. or the electric clutch. Anything to be concerned about with either?
Are they high maintenance or expensive to repair if needed?

Hydro drives, not that expensive to maintain, very expensive to repair you're dealing with hydraulics, just a little wear means replace the part. If the unit is in good shape and you keep the fluid clean, change the filters as recommended and don't over heat the system you won't see much trouble provided it was good to start with. Electric clutches- is a crap shoot, you can spend a good chunk of change on a regular clutch, some have to be adjusted, no such with the electrics I've dealt with you just change them when they go bad, now that we have non-OEM sources prices have come down some on them. Only backside on electric clutches is you have to keep your electricl system in better shape. Don't get me wrong I have a hydro Wheel Horse and I love it, but remember you're buying a more complex mower and has a general rule the more complex the more potential for problems, even if you buy it new.

its whats used on probably 98% of the mowers out there. some last longtime no trouble some don't from what I have seen in the shop. simpleput you take care of it it will take care of you with min trouble you treat it like a dozer it will do the same, give you lot trouble. onlydifference than anything else out ther is you willbe rideing on orange paint.
