With the merger of MTD and Troy Bilt the numbers have all been changed. so i am having a hard time finding a reverse belt for my Pony. I purchased it new in 1984. The belt I need is a #9493. It measures out at approx. 27 1/4 or slightly longer. It is a 3/8 ths.wide belt not the 1/2 that I can find. Also it is a 'V' belt not a flat belt. Are there any good sites to purchase the old stock parts from. :?: Thank you. |

I entered that number on the Troy Bilt site and came up empty. I contacted a friend that works at NAPA in Northern Michigan. Is info came back as 9493 replaced by 50134 which crosses over to NAPA part 6679BR. Gonna give it a try. Will take a few days to get the part in. |

| Unless I am wrong, that belt is replaced by a GW97075...16.14 through a Troy-bilt/MTD dealer |

| Please forgive my feeble old mind, and allow me to correct the info I have given.
GAT 6824 is as you have stated 24 inches x 1/2. It is the forward belt. I have replaced that one and it works fine.
The reverse belt is the one I am trying to replace.P/N9493 which is no longer available.I tried a GAT6827 but it was the one that was way too tight. It too is a 1/2 belt. The measurement of the original belt is 271/4 (maybe 27 3/8 ) x 3/8 wide. I apologize for the confusion and hope this new info will help you to help me. Thanks.
Troy Bilt also offered at one time p/n 4922 which is a set of belts for the earlier Pony.

I tried a Gates 6824. I managed to get it on but it was so tight that it would not disengage.I actually had to cut it off. What a waste of a new belt.Parts guy said they only come in whole inches, and 1/2 wide.I figger 27 1/2 would be too loose even if I could find one. Problem wiyh the wider belts is they dont set down into the pulley and as such need to be longer. |

| The 6824 is 1/2" wide and only 24 inches long. See if they have a 3/8" wide and 27" long belt. Hal The second digit is the width. Look at 6627. |

| I would buy a Gates Green Stripe belt from your local auto parts store. I use their p/n 6822 belt on my Horse Model. That belt is 1/2"wide and 22" long. They're about $14.00 and last a long time with all the clutching and declutching. Mine has been on there 6 years. Hal |
