Are thes engines known for valve troubles?

The mechanic put in a set of push rods and it bent this set too?

Problem could be caused carbon buildup on valve stems causeing valves to stick,weak/broken valve springs, incorrect rocker arm/valve stem clearance or possibly wrong push rods installed, kohler manual says check clearance between valve spring turns at full lift or push rod bending can occur, min allowable clearance between turns .010".

When your mechanic put those pushrods in, did he just open the valve cover and stick them in, or Did he take the blower cover off and inspect the fins, especially the area around the cylinder head?

I just put 2 pushrods in a Briggs twin that a mouse had totally insulated the left (#1) cylinder with fiberglass insulation. The overheat condition bent both pushrods on that side of the engine and froze the valves in the head.

Thanks guys, at the start of this trouble I had the cover off thinking it was a coil and there were no nests then.

It is sad because the 1050 is a year out of warranty and shop has had it forever because pushrods were on back order.

I called them today and learned that the new rods bent in 5 minutes of operation. Now he said they sent the cam out to see if it is bent ... really? I they now what they are doing.

Just went thru all of that with a 25 ,first retreave your machine before the bill goes thru the roof!
when you get the new pushrods first make sure that the engine is clean wash it down and then pull blower cover and clean some more ,the instructions Im going to give you are from Kohler
they came in the box with the new starter ,telling the dealers that they were having too many warenty returns on starters
first the engine has to cold remove both spark plugs rotate engine CCW backwards from the way it runs (that un-cocks the compression release )2 full turns stoping the left cylender on top dead center thats left sitting in front of the engine
install push rods and back the ajusters off
set the valves on that cyl to 0.005 in and ex
still turning backwards bring the right cyl to tdc and install pushrods and set them the same way ! install plugs and valve covers start engine and check for leaks ,install all other stuff removed !
