hh120 replacement electronic ignition

Some time back I saw an article on the net. about a guy who had adapted a Chrysler electronic ignition to fire a hh120 Tech. engine. Does any one have the diagram or pictures to make this system work. These old engines are too tough to let them die because you can"t buy the standard electronic ignition. Thanks for any help.
 
Every once in a while someone offers to sell a good one on eBay.

The Sears Garden Tractor collectors' page has that article. Several of the garden tractor pulling pages will have instructions. There is at least one commercial kit available.
 
Do a goggle search for tecumseh hh120 ignition conversion,several online articles posted for makeing a conversion unit,there is also a used coil on ebay search item# 320909245304
 
Hi Joe, Can points be installed on those engines? My former co-worker that has that Wheelhorse tractor had a problem with the electronic ignition and the Kohler engine had a place to install points and that's what he did using an auto type coil.

He told me about a month ago he has Parkinson disease. He goes fishing a lot and told me he can't bait the fish hooks anymore. He's only 73.

Hi Hal-The early HH 100/120 eng had a cast cavity in block for points,after the switch to solid state ign this cavity was eliminated in block casting,there may be a few eng out there that have cavity with solid state ign while the change over was taking place.

As I told TN do a goggle search for tecumseh hh120 ignition conversion,click on 4th link,in instructions about conversion there's a pic of a block with points,if eng doesn't have cavity then you can't install points.
