LT75 Ford Lawn Mower

Just purchased a LT75 7 HP Ford Lawn Mower. Trying to locate new and used parts to restore the mower. Any suggestions on where to get parts or manuals would be most appreciated. Most of the parts are unavailable from Ford. Trying to determine what year the mower was made also. Found a tag on the right hand side of the frame beside the muffler but unable to read the numbers. Thanks Diana

Diana there is a very good ford/Jacobson forum with lots of info and people who post everyday. I bought a ford yt12.5 in march and wanted a little info and they helped. I googled garden tractor forums and scanned a little, easy to find. Good luck and enjoy your new toy

My parents bought an LT-75 soon after I was out of High School, that would put it in the early 70's. The first ones had a cast iron front axle and later on they changed to a welded steel axle. I have my parents (mom used it way up in her 80's) and then I bought another one with the steel front alxe that I still use. They are petty easy to keep going if you are handy.

thanks for the replys. Need 4 hood bolts, two tank straps, gas cap/gauge, back cover that goes over the hole that covers the rear end between the back wheels. There will probably be more parts as we attempt in getting it going. Is there a web site or any i can contact about getting parts. The Ford/Jacobson web site shows parts discontinued. All help appreciated. Would like to get a manual on it also. Thanks Diana

There are times that when you use things they break. Downgrading might be the best option than replacing or upgrading things. Well, it might be tempting to upgrade or even replace items that break with something better. It is wise to to think first whether you would like to replace and upgrade or not. There is a less expensive and of course less difficult option that can be better all around. In fact downgraded items may also run on human power, which can also better for your health. It is said that "Quality is worth the price". If you are a bout to downgrade something such as your mower, it is best if you spend the extra money to get a good-quality steel mower instead of the cheap aluminum one. With a good-quality downgrades, it will always be less expensive in the end than a low-quality upgrade. You must consider the lifetime costs of an item rather than the immediate costs.
