In need of a jack shaft for a ford riding mower #lt 8 38 inch deck setting on the mower it is the left side. Does any one have one new, used u could part with, are where i might buy a after market shaft new holland does not sale just the shaft,thanks for any help.R.E.Lee
 
If the jack/stub shaft you're looking for is on a kohler k181 & bolted to flywheel,do a goggle search for lawnmower salvage yards,try calling rays & jamestown mower(both in pa)and any other dealers listed,also try ebay,this part is nla from kohler.
 
Was at small eng warehouse & looked at you're tractor,eng a briggs vert shaft,I thought same was a kohler.This shaft you're looking for is it a spindle shaft for front wheel or shaft for blade on deck?If for blade it may only be avail as a complete bearing/spindle assembly.
 
Several dealers online show only as a complete assembly,all get $250+ for same,other option might be take shaft to several local machine shops and see if they can make a new shaft & cost of same versus a complete assembly from new holland OR try lawnmower graveyards/ebay,you might get lucky & find a good used assembly.
 

I have an old Ford LT-75 which was my mothers. It is a 8HP Briggs vertical shaft and uses a jack shaft in the front of the mower to run everything. I am thinking it is similar to yours. To my point; one of the bearings had failed (locked up) and wore the shaft where the bearing fit. I was able to find a bearing with a smaller I.D. with the same O.D. It was a simple lathe job to turn the shaft and fit the bearing, the shaft diameter at the pulley was not affected.

I may have the dimensions and bearing PN if this is something you think would work in your application.
