carb cleaner

For the big jobs I like to use Berrymans in the gal. bucket with the dip basket. I also like the berryman spray cans better than the other brands.

Always had good luck with Lacquer thinner, tiny wires to poke ports, plenty of air to blow out. Can't have any soft parts or gaskets on parts to soak. A carb cleaner spray with straw to get into holes also.

Be careful what you put a small engine carb in, some of them have a shellac on them to seal them, and if you soak them, it can take the shellac off the carb, and render it useless. ALL engine manufacturers suggest brake parts cleaner, and tag wire, no harsh chemicals for the reason. Of course the best is an ultra sonic cleaner, they are awesome...

I've got a set of welding tip cleaning wires
from a welding supply store. It's got about 20
sizes of fine wires, on a holder, cost "About" $9
works great for poking through fine passages on
carburetors to make sure that they're clean.

I use the large saucepan on the kitchen sink with water.

Boil for a while then add liquid dish soap and agitate.

You can't really add the soap till ya turn off the heat or it gets all messy.

Repeat with vinegar water if you want it brightened too.
