I have a bolens 1050 tractor and need a new solenoid for it. I haven"t been able to find a direct replacement. Does anyone have any suggestions on something from NAPA? It has 3 prongs on it.

No, it only has one small stud in middle.
Its a common automotive solenoid. If you have an auto-parts store near by, they should be able to match it up. I get mine at auto-zone, they stock it, as does NAPA auto parts. It may not be the exact same shape, but they all work the same way.
The one El-Toro has will work too. Just run a wire from the second little post to a good ground. His is for the type that use the second post through the safety switches, which your bolens doesn"t have / do. The one he shows are common on most ford trucks from the mid 70s through the late 80s.
Your single post type grounds through the solenoids mounting bolts.

Thanks t1. I have one with the two small posts, I"ll try it.

the 4 post sol can be used BUT do NOT ground the secondary post.look closly and the 2 smaller post should be marked "I" and "S".the I term sends 12volts direct to the ignition coil directly bypassing the resistance wire.the S term goes to ignition switch S term.
