I just bought my MTD today at an estste sale the battery was down and had some flat tires. I can t wait till I have some time to try to get it running. It s pretty straight too. No deck and it has a potato plow mounted to the lift. Any info you guys have about this mower will be appreciated as of now all I know is that it s built well...Thanks Bobby

1400 would date back to end of 1960s,early 1970s,were built like tanks.Later similar models were the 900 series, and sort of the end of horizontal shaft engine MTDs.1400s,etc&900s were sold by some of the box stires as their"big dogs",offering such things as front, center rear shaft PTO,front end loaders, full line of attachments.Commonest name I can recall seeing regularly is"Farm King"and"JC Penney".Good(CLEAN/WORKING)OEM 1000 and 900 series still command strong prices.
