Ford YT16 Brakes

Hello All,
I have a Ford YT16 that I inherited from my Dad about 6 years ago. It runs and cuts great but the brakes do not work at all. I was wondering if anyone out there with expierence on these types of yard tractors could lead me in the right direction to troubleshoot this issue? The clutch seems to be out of adjustment or something too. When you switch to a gear you have to let the clutch practically all the way out before it will engage and when switching to reverse, you have to hold the gear lever down while you let the clutch out for it to drop into gear.
Since the clutch and brake are used on the same pedal it would seem to me that these two issues are related?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott

If this tractor has a belt drive between eng/trans,try replaceing belt after at least 6 yrs belt worn/streched & clutch mech probably at end of takeup range for belt.

Thanks Joe.

Could replacing the belt possibly fix the brakes too?

Thanks,

I'm not familiar with transaxle used on ford tractors, due to fact brake/clutch on same pedal,I would suspect a linkage runs off same to either an internal brake in transaxle or same has an ext disk caliper/band brake that needs adjustment/replacement or something broken on brake setup, you'll have to check owners/parts manual & look around on tractor to see how brake works,if you don't have a manual, goto ebay & type ford tractor manual yt16 in search, several listed, ask seller if manual has parts list included.
