add a electric PTO to a Cub 127?

I bought a Cub Cadet 127 and love the tractor but it is difficult to engage the blades with the factory left hand engagemant handle. Was thinking of buying an electric clutch and putting it on the front of the crank and putting a simple switch on the dash. I know the 12 horse kohler has a 1" shaft but dont know if it is keyed or not. If it is, putting a electric clutch on would be simple. Any advise or experiences to share?

There is NO provision on the 127 block to mount an electric PTO. The Electric PTO appeared on Cub's Quietlline Series and the new blocks (K-301AQS) had such a provision.

You could use the bracket and electric clutch from a 200-series John Deeere tractor if you have a one-inch PTO end on the crankshaft. You may need to change the pulley on the deck to get the right speed on the blade spindles.

RBedell is correct. If the engine is origional, the 4 bolt holes for holding PTO on will not be drilled and tapped. You would not be able to use the starter/generator because electric PTO would interfere with starter pulley. The crankshaft will also not be drilled and tapped for the retaining bolt and electric PTO crankshaft is 1" longer.

Thanks for the info, guess that idea won't fly. My 127 has hydraulic lift, was this a factory option or aftermarket, would you think? the entire hydraulic setup is a bolt on unit on the right side behind the starter.

The Auxiliary Hydraulic Lift was a Factory Option and are highly sought after.

Yes, that exactly what mine has, other than I dont see the handle in your picture for moving the cylinder. It might be highly sought after but its also a pain in the backside reaching down for that little lever to raise or lower the implement. I wish they would have made the lever long enough to be in easy reach.
I just recently bought this 127, it came with the deck, snowblower, rototiller and factory heat houser, or "windbreaker" I guess it is called. Thinking of buying a snowblade for it too.
