The charging system quit I replaced the regulator and checked the wires to the ignition switch still dont work does any body have a wireing schematic for this tractor I dont have any voltage going to the regulator with the ignition on and the engine off

You should've checked the rectifier/regulator for AC voltage to your rectifier with a volt meter set on ac voltage and the the engine a 1/2 throttle. Should see 30 volts if the stator is working on the two outside terminals on the rectifier. There's probably nothing wrong with the old rectifier. Hal

Here's another Kohler wiring diagram that show's the rectifier better that they used on Kohler engines. Note the two outside terminals on the rectifier. Hal

Thanks for the information. I now know there is nothing wrong with the rectifer, but had no idea how to check it before. Thanks again I will check it more tomorrow

Check the ignition switch to see that it is passing current. I had one on an Allis Chalmers 416 that I fought and bought an unnecessary rectifier.

I just gave up trying to get my 316 w/Kohler to charge. I just crammed a 12 volt deep cycle battery in it and recharge it every couple weeks, this has worked for the past 5 years anyway. A lot less hassle and expense. Mine isn't a collector, just a tool.
