cadet 122 front pto

I am trying to remove the front pto clutch on my 122.The set screws are blocked by the disc housing.Do you remove the spring clips. If so how.Need help, thank you Bill Bowen

Bill
Housing has u slots release clutch turn center hub to line up
. Note may have double set screws, Traper

disengage the clutch turn the outer ring to line up the slots with the allen screw holes then reengage the clutch. There are two allen screws in each hole the first one you take out will have an almost flat bottom the second one should be pointed.

Trapper,I have engine out have to replace camshaft.Should I have removed the unit before taking engine out of chassie. Thanks Bill PS this is the unit to run mower.

That isn't gonna be easy. I think I would try to turn it the shortest way to a notch while tapping it dead center where the lever disengages it.

What I did was use a gear puller.Hope I didn't ruin the clutch but I got it off.Now the bearing is not wanting to come off but we will keep tinkering with it.Thanks for the input.I rebult a farmall H but this is a different animal.Bill Bowen

That bearing has a locking collar on the back side to hold it on. Turns in the direction of rotation to lock it on and the opposite to take it off. Once the collar is loose, it should come off pretty easy. Remove the set screw that holds the collar, then use a punch in the other hole to drive it in the right direction. It will lock in either direction you turn it but it should be locked in the direction of rotation.
