What brand engine is it and what model/how many hp? For kohler k301(12hp), I know its just two bolts underneath. Unhook the wires first leading to it. And than just pull it out.

thank you very much for your reply to my needs .it is a case 446 16hp onan motor seems a little difacult to get at and im scratching my head.it was running fine graded my 100 foot drive way with ease the next morning just getting the click sound out of the silanoid.replced that with a new one still the same problem.tryed going direct with a jump box to the starter and dead as a door nail all the help that can give will be great full very much pete //thanks scott.

You have to pull the motor on most tractors with the Onan engine. Onan put the starter underneath the engine for some reason. I think those engines were originally designed to run a generator or a welder and they would have been skid mounted.
