224 Case heat shield

My Case 224 has an obviously home made heat shield between the engine and the battery. I am wondering if there is supposed to be one at all or did someone replace the original one with this piece of tin.
 
I can't say that I've ever seen such a shield nor can I think of a reason to have one. But....you should be sure. So..here's what you need to do. Go get the PIN off of that metal tag that's riveted to the dash tower of your tractor. Make sure you write it down correctly because some of them are hard to read.

Use the link below to take you to Ingersoll's website and then click on the Illustrated Parts List link. On the right side where the green bars are, click on the X for the tractors without power steering. Scroll down to the 224's and use your PIN to find the correct PDF. Click on that to open it up and you can search that parts book from front to back to see if your tractor ever had a shield in that place.

Yeah thanks for the info and for that link. I checked that parts catalogue and found nothing. Probably someone was concerned about the battery getting heat from the engine seeing as it actually blows heat from the engine in that direction. Also maybe because this particular one has an exhaust leak right at the engine. I'm gonna try to find a muffler for it. Trying to fix it and make it as close to original as possible. Can one order parts direct from Ingersoll or will I need to find a dealer? Not sure if there is one here locally but I will search the web.
 
There should be a baffle bolted to the engine that directs the cooling air exhaust to the side, not directly on the battery. Maybe that is missing??? and the PO decided to fab something.
 
Absolutely it should have one. I have a 220 and it gets plenty warm under the hood even with the shield that directs hot air out to the right side.
