NEED HELP:
I have a bolens q16 with a sundstrand hydrostactic transaxle.
I replaced a broken driveshaft and replaced hydro filter and fluid (type "f" sccording to manual).
It wont move forward or backward
I tried bleeding the pickup line(just made a mess)and towed it around with my cub.
Nothing seems work
any ideas?

Hi there. Does there happen to be a lever on the tractor that opens both valves for towing? If so, that may be why it will not move forward or backward..there was probably no reason to open both valves to change the filter, but it's an idea. I know on the Cub Cadets there is a tow lever that opens both valves in the hyrdostat to roll freely. If the lever is not returned back to the original spot the tractor will not move when it runs. Just an idea...

Make sure the key didn"t fall out when you put the drive shaft back on.

If you have hydraulic lift, check to see that works. if it does, all should be well with the driveshaft and charge pump.

make sure the free wheel valve on the side of the hydro unit is closed, and that the unit is full to proper level.

Jack the rear end up and put it on blocks so it can"t go anywhere, but the tires can still turn. on occassion these can get an air bubble stuck in them, and easiest way I know to get them moving again is push the pedal forward, and turn the tires by hand to get them moving. usually from there, it starts pumping fluid, and works out the air. sometimes you gotta work the pedal back and forth several times to get all of the air out of the system.
