My John Deere LX277 with a kawasaki engine has developed a fairly serious oil leak on the oil filter side of the engine just below and forward of the oil filter it looks to be coming out between where the block splits into two sections I checked all of the bolts that could be reached and they are tight,it will leak a steady stream when the engine is running, has anyone seen this before and if so what is the cure??

Remove the engine, split it open and replace the gasket and o-rings that are between the 2 halves is only cure if thats were the leak is coming from.

theres several pan bolts that hold it together, most of which can't be reached with the engine bolted to the tractor frame.

As stated above leak is at joint between block and pan. May have been caused by running with too much oil in crankcase. All that extra pressure blew a gasket.
Vibration and improperly torqued bolts can cause one to fail also.
