LX-176 Can't Keep Running

I have a 93' LX-176 with the 14hp Kawasaki engine that I bought new. The mower will run fine for about an hour or so and just stop. Not getting fire. After a while it will start right back up and run fine for 1-2 hours. Would you expect maybe the coil or could it be the little square "ignition module" that mounts next to the dipstick?

I would check with the dealer where you bought the tractor and see if they have a procedure for checking those items to see which one is defective. You may be able to check the continuity using a multi-meter set on ohm's. Check them when you know the engine will start and again when it's quits. Do this when the engine isnt running. Hal

If there is no spark at the plug when it dies and wont startits in the ignition system.I usually disconnect the kill wire from the ignitor and if it still doesnt fire she gets a new coil and ignitor.Tip is to check it when it dies and wont start, otherwise your guessing

It is the ignition module. They get hot and quit and then cool down and run fine until hot again. They have gotten quite pricy.
