how to wire a starter genny

guys i got a old lawn tractor with a delco starter /genny and all the wires are ate off this thing its a bolens 1050 with a wisconsin. any help or a diagram would be nice.

Some of those S/G's turn CW and some CCW. I have the Delco S/G on a Wards tractor and turns CW. I have a wiring diagram for it, but i don't know if it would help you. Mine has a starter solenoid too. If you think it would help I can post a copy. Hal

The wiring should be the same CW or CCW the only difference between the two are which end of the crankshaft the starter generator is hooked to.

Here's my wiring diagram. Hope it helps. There's only 2 wires coming to the S/G. One on the F terminal and one on the A terminal. The wire on the F terminal is a heavier wire. Hal

Hi Joe, How long does it take to get those decals from Ed Mayhew? My former co-worker
hasn't heard from him since he sent a check, but he hasn't cashed the check. Its been about 6 weeks. Hal

I am pretty sure that the direction the starter generator turns is built into the armature inside the unit. It should probably be wired the same way regardless of which way it turns.

Hi Hal-I have usually had to wait 4-5 wks to get, while Ed does do good work he is known to be somewhat slow in completing order,as I said in another reply, this is a side line for him in addition to reg job & most decals are probably made on demand, also if memory serve's me correct there is/was a big WH show in Pa which he usually shows up at,it might take him a wk/more to get ready for same,in which case decal orders may have gotten pushed to back burner for a wk/more,might try emailing him & jog his memory/confirm that he received order
Joe

The wire on the "A" terminal between the generator and the regulator should be the heavier wire, minimum 12 gauge. 10 would be better. Wire on the "F" terminals can be 16 gauge.
