balancing blades after sharpening

Does anyone have a trick to balancing blades after sharpening? Had a set sharpened and they cut better than ever, even new factory blades but shake the deck pretty bad.

Thanks.

Hello INCase,
Put a nail in a vise, or a round blade screwdriver. Try it both ways, left blade side turn it to the right. This will get you close.

I have used a long bolt or screw driver for years. You can roll the blade on top of the round shaft and find the exact balance point. If this point IS not in the center of the center hole of the blade, sharpen the short side some more until the balance point is centered. I find it is much quicker to do it this way than to use on of the cone type balancer.

I picked up one of those little cone balancers a few years ago and I don"t think you can find anything simpler to use. I have a ledge near my grinder that is perfectly level and I leave the balancer set up there all the time. It"s only a step away from the grinder.

If you had them sharpened somewhere I would go back to that same shop and tell them about the shake. Most dealers have Magna balancers and they are the cadilac of balancers but to expensive for the homeowner to have. Obviously they have took to much metal off one end if your mower didn"t shake before you took them in.
