Took the sheilds off tonight to see where the oil was coming from. It seems to be coming either from the plate that covers the valve spring which I put a little high heat silicone on it when putting it back together or it could be coming out of the tube that is there. What is that tube for? I am going to get a manual soon but any help in the meantime is good. Also is there some type of holding system on the hydrostatic drive it seems to want to go as fast as it can in forward and reverse. Thanks

If you removed breather assembly from eng, take it off again, and check same installed correctly, same has 2 drainholes in body that MUST face down towards crankcase,if breather gasket damaged/oil soaked, buy a new gasket or make a new one,rtv sealer will not work if either sealing surface has oil on it,a leaking breather gasket will be clearly evident by oil running down block from sides/bottom of same,if oil coming out of breather tube, then either breather bad,oil overfull or you have blowby in eng caused by worn rings/valve guides.Goto ebay & BUY item# 380165700328 if for nothing else you need this to id parts on eng & learn what they do/how they work.If shifter same/similar to mf8,on cross shaft from shifter handle in area where teleflex cable connects to cross shaft should have a friction adj for shifter, been 9 yrs/more since I worked on one of these, you'll have to remove 1/both center section covers to get to same,go back to 1 of your other post's & email chuck,he offered you a service manual,TAKE IT,you need it,as you don't understand how tractor works, same manual on ebay $14-$18,also get eng manual cd to understand eng.

I found the hydrostatic tensioner it was behind the cover that tells where the speed is set. There is a slide tensioner in there with two bolts with springs on them that hold a friction pad (like a brake pad) together and makes the handle harder to move. One problem fixed.
