Hydraulic weak

I was using the power major to move 5x5 round rolls of hay over the weekend, it would not lift it, so i thought they were to heavy, so i thought id try to move 4x5 round rolls of hay. It would barely lift it a few inches off the ground. Why will it not lift either bale?
You remove the bale and the lift works great.
Does it have a filter?
Could the filter be stopped up?
Could the fluid be to thick?
Best i remember my grand pa always put 85-140 in it.
Would it work better with universal tractor transmission/hydraulic fluid?

Any help is welcome

There is a screen in the sump. I use 80-90 in the rear. You can have a leaking piston or weak pump bypass valve.
Is the oil clean or milky?

I cleaned the screen and put new fluid in it.
How do you check the bypass valve or leaking piston?
Where are they located at
Thanks
