Strange Fordson N engine number (1007)

Hello,

I recently bought a Fordson N i fairly good condition, and the engine block serial number does look a bit strange. Could it be rebuilt engine block? The stamped numbers seems to be really old.

It is a replacement engine produced in 1950. Production started in 1949 and they reached about 95,000 by 1957.
They were also used in the E27N tractors. If they were worked very hard, they may need overhauls after two seasons. Many local dealers did the overhauls on the original engines, but the low-cost factory replacements kept these tractors running for quite a long time after production ended in 1952.

Thank you very much for your answer, much appreciated.
Very exciting information.

I saw now that you mention [b:5a19f285f4]Stuart Gibbard[/b:5a19f285f4] in another thread. Is that the book in the attached image?

Thank you again :)
