main bearings fordson super major

BareCo has them but only in .010, .020, and .030 sizes. If you can't find 0.015 you will have to get the crank ground to .020

Hi I'm guessing you had 0.15 because it is the bearing journals in the block that are over sized after the block had been line bored either by the
factory during manufacture or a repair shop later in life. Those bearings are getting like rocking horse poo to find. Does your engine have an X
stamped in the serial number as that's the factory ID marking for a line bored over block.
I have seen the x stamped on the oil pan flanges on the bottom of the block once to but that one was scrap as the tractor had burned and melted all
the white metal inside and aluminium outside of the engine.

I had a late super here got the bearings put back inas they weren't that bad for wear . I actually now look at any majors I buy, to see if the x is
there if the motor needs any work because of the problems getting them. The only places I ever saw those bearings was new old stock in Australia on a
web site or on eBay about 6 months ago there was a set, both were good money to own them !.
Regards Robert

Correct me if I am wrong but line boring does not change the outside diameter of the bearings. The bearing cap is ground in order to keep the journal size the same. much like a rod journal is ground. The over or under size comes from the crank being ground.

Ford built a number of tractors with oversized, line bored blocks as Robert says.

They were blocks that had slight faults when originally bored and got oversized and used when stocks
got low. I saw a few when in the dealership, they went up to 0.020" O/S I seem to remember. Bearing
shells are no longer available but some companies will re-metal your existing shells.

They may also be stamped O/S near the serial number.
