Is it possible to replace the dexta fuel filter assembly with one from a John deer or some other tractor?

On eBay, there is one that uses the cartridges from the 1000 series Fords. Appears to have a glass bowl at the bottom to view dirt and water. If you had other Fords, this may be of interest.
One like Ford 1000 series

It's easier for me to get ford parts. Dexta parts hard to get when in a hurry

Let me know how that filter assembly works. I have a 4000 3 cylinder diesel, and if that filter works, I would need only one filter. I like the clear bowl and ease of change idea.
