Fordson F manifold question

Howdy,

I am restoring an F Fordson (1922) for a friend and need to do some major replacing in the fuel/manifold area. His tractor had a Kingston LD manifold that had two elbows added to the top to allow a model A ford carburetor to be bolted on (updraft). The carb and manifold are shot (sat outside for 20 years) and so I get to start from scratch. Buying all the components to put a Kingston back on it is going to run around $2500 from Fordsonhouse. A zenith setup with a gas manifold and carb is about half. I was wondering if one from an N would bolt on? I have seen a few pictures of N's and they appear to have gas downdraft carburetors on them. I thought the availability might be better and cheaper. I could be wrong. Fordsons are a new breed to me. I'm used to working on old johnny poppers. Thanks and God bless.

Good luck with finding the parts. I'm doing the same thing. Mine had a Holley 234 vaporizer . I would ask Wayne Hillman at Rosewood Machine or anybody that will help you. Kieth Garage has some Fordsons in Madison Ohio.
I would like to know is your goal to get it back to stock fuel system . If so Fordson house or eBay or any source .
I'm not going to be stock appearing cause the tractor has had so many modifications like yours . It's a puzzle what to do .if I could only go back in time me and get a Holley 234 and bring it back

Thanks Dennis. We ended up deciding to keep it the way the farmer had it. I'm going to order a new manifold from Rosewood and re-use the elbow and model a carb setup. This tractor has a lot of modifications on it. Some are farmer-made but a lot are aftermarket parts from back in the day. I convinced the owner to let this be a historical piece that showcases some of the modifications that were available at the time as well as some the farmer did. It has a drawbar extension, Wehr governor, long rear axles from a Moline two-row cultivator conversion, clutch lock, and belt pulley. The manifold/carburetor are farmer made along with rear wheels that have the metal cut out between the cleats. It is an interesting piece for sure. Good luck with your Holley.
