Been working on one for my cousin. The question I have is has anyone heard of flipping over the manifold and using a carb from an 8N to make them start and run better? We've heard this from a couple old timers we talked to at a tractor show. Any advise is appreciated!

I think that it was common to use a different carburetor (non-Fordson) either by using a down-draft carb on top of the manifold, or by turning the manifold upside down and using some kind of updraft carb.
If you do this, post some pictures and let us know how it works.

I'm going use a Holley 1904 low profile carburetor . Don,t want two but got to , I don't have a 234 vaporizer . And only intend to use gasoline. .

After I got the Holley, the air needs to be routed from air box to this downdraft. Not sure how to do yet.

You might consider a John Deere A marvel shrieder side draft carburetor, would be easier to build right angle tube intake adaptation . It would be a straight shot tin air filter box with tubing and rubber hose
I look at John Deere A because it has about a .5 liter more engine displacement. But these carbs are pricy
Anyway good luck
