Hydraulic lift bleeding

I have a 1959 Fordson Delta tractor that I'm having issue with the lift.
It's stoping about half way up and want lift all the way up. I purchased the tractor about a year ago and was working mostly, that is I would have to raise the lift twice to get it to life all the way up.
I finally used the PTO to do some bush hauling, and when I was done, i noticed that the lift would not lift all the way up.

I checked the real axle fluid level which was very low, so I added hydraulic fluid (5 gallons). That didn't help the issue, so I've been trying to figure out if bleeding the system would help.
I orders a manual "Fordson Major Instruction Book", which didn't provide any helpful details on my specific Hydraulic system.

Any info on how or what I need to do to get to the cause of this issue would be greatly appreciated!

You do not have to bleed a Dexta hydraulics, the pump is under the oil so gets rid of any air automatically.

From the position of your selector lever you are using the tractor in Position Control, if you start at the bottom of the quadrant with the main control lever the arms should lift as you move the lever up the quadrant. If they do not move until the lever is right to the top then you have a worn Position Control pin and the lift will need to be removed to sort it out.

Not a bad job and a piece of a drill can be used to replace the pin but be careful not to bend the arm it fits in.

The Major manual will not help you at all, it is a totally different tractor.

Thanks for your help. When starting the main control lever from the bottom, the arms start moving as I move the lever up. But when the arms a about half way up they stop moving.

There is a small lever control to the right of the main control lever (attached to the side of the tractor), not sure of its purpose, but when I move it up and down the lift arms starts lowering.

Is there a filter associated with the hydraulic lift that may need cleaning?

Any reference manuals available for this tractor?

All you describe points to linkage problems. The little lever changes the lift sensing from Position to Draft control, Position is up, Draft is down.

The only filter is a wire strainer in the back end only accessable with the lift off.
