County 1124

One coming up on auction just 15 miles from me. Sale bill says it has a "6000 series engine" and "needs a hydraulic pump". I think they mean an 8000 engine - it should be a 401, right? And would it use a pump like a Ford, or did they use different hydraulic pumps?

Hi The 1124 had the 2700 series industrial engine like the earlier NH combines like you have. The 1164 was the first county in that size tractor to have the 401 type motor as it didn't need adapter kits from 2700 to ford tractor 0000 series bell housing pattern. I would guess the hyd pump is the same as a regular tractor. my 954 is 2 models earlier but the same basic tractor with some extra bracing. if the body panels were removed from both, and parked side by side the bracing is all you would see different in reality without checking casting numbers and later 2700 series engine model.
I actually think there is or was an incorrect listing in a machinery blue book that states 401 in an 1124 tractor. The guy I got my first 954 from referred to it about 12 years ago.

Saw it sell, but it opened higher than my cousin wanted to go, so I never bid.
Needed some TCL, but all in all a pretty good starting point. Wheel centers had pieces welded on to allow 34" rims (18.4x34 tires), left fender needed some welding on the ribs, incorrect gear-reduction starter interfered with the brace rod, no battery, and it was the p/s pump that was bad, not the hydraulic pump.
Buyer was a young guy who said he was ready to go to $10,000 on it, but he got it for his opening bid of $3000.
I told him about YTMag.com. .. maybe we'll see him here in a few days.

From what I've seen that's a great deal!
From what I could see in the picture it looked like it was all there and in not to bad of shape.
Any Idea where the kid was from? I Hope he does her good.

No, I didn't find out where he's from. It did sound like
it will be well taken care of. The other County owner
and I were glad about that.

I took several pictures and will upload them to
photobucket tonight.
The other County owner who was there is from
Thorp, WI, and has an 1164.

I was at an auction over by Kracow a few years ago, they sold I believe a 1124 with a cab for over 8K, and I'm thinking the new owner had a few others, don't remember where they were from.
and at another auction several years ago by Lena, a 1124 sold for 5Kish.

I'll try attaching a couple pictures.
