1974 Ford 2000 Diesel - no fuel from CAV bleed screw

Hello members. My 2000 stopped running. I suspected fuel delivery issues due to an all of the sudden shut down and wouldn't crank. I pulled the fuel filter and replaced. Tried to prime by bleeding and loosening the pump screw. No fuel comes out of bleed screw. Some fuel does come out of pump screw when I turn key over. Can't get fuel to bleed out. I have unscrewed fuel input line to filter and open shut off valve to ensure fuel is getting to filter. Any suggestions and a pre-thanks for any help.

I had a CAV pump rebuilt. Had a heck of a time getting it to bleed out. Had to open the injector lines and bleed screw.

Just loosen the fuel line bolt at the pump.Make sure the stop handle is in run position. Trust me.If the lift pump has a handle. Use it to prime the system. If not you will have to crank the engine over. Be sure and let the starter rest between cranks.Don't want to burn it out. I think the CAV is the hardest one to bleed out.

If the fuel filter is NAPA or WIX brand make sure the filter top outer groove does not have an O ring in it, that's the filter inlet passage. I've made lots of service calls to correct that mistake. CAV filters flow different and don't have this problem..
