Aux hydraulic pressure issue

Hey guys I have a1963 super major that
has little or low aux hyd pressure. My
main hyd (3point hitch) is fast and
strong. I have a rear hyd plumbed from
the aux hyd valve chest to a single
lever control. I hooked a wood splitter
up to it and it barely moves. Flow
control is max. Fluid level is good.why
would mu pressure be low? 3pt hitch is
strong so that rules out pump. Any
ideas be great. Thanks

Two things to try, lower the lift arms about 1" before pulling the Auxiliary Selector out. Try taking the lever beyond the top stop on the quadrant.

Any problems with what you are hooking up to? The Auxiliary oil feed comes nearly straight from the pump so if your lift works fine and will lift a load easily, the pump and lift are OK.

Ill try both solutions. The attachment im using is in excellent working order. Tested it on another tractor.

You can get a spool valve to fit in place of the ASC but hens teeth and rocking horse manure is more plentiful. Something else to check, what age is your Super? They changed in 1963 and there were some changes to the lift.

If your lift looks like this and you have a long Pressure Relief Valve and a drop restricter you should be OK but if you have no drop restricter and a flat topped relief valve you may have to change this for a long Pressure Relief Valve.

The other way round the problem which I use on my log splitter is to adjust the relief valve on the log splitter to slightly lower than the one on the tractor.

The problem is caused by the earlier (flat topped valve) blowing off and not returning to its seat so dumping the oil to tank, the later valve (long) does away with this problem.

Mine looks the same minus the drop rate spool. Its a 1963 . i had the arm cover off a while back to deal with a sticking unloader valve. I put the valve back in without any o ring because i didn t have the proper one. Would any thing i done in this process effected the aux hyd? There was a loader running off it when i got the tractor first which worked fine but i removed it due to a bad cylinder. I took the valve chest off it today and found gunk in the passage way(old gasket) cleaned every thing good and put it back on and still slow. I even tried another valve to run the splitter and same result. Frustrated to say the least

Can the pressure releif valve be a factor? I unscrew it and no o ring or anything at the end of it. That normal? Ill try to get some pics

My serial number is 8c958585 it has 38 inch tires. Im in canada so maybe its a ford 5000 i dont know.

If you have no drop restricter it will be an early 1963, May in fact, the later PR Valve did not come out, with the lift changes until July/August 1963. So you may have a valve issue with what you are doing with the splitter. If your loader works and your lift works then there is nothing really wrong with your lift. The missing "O" ring will not cause any problem, it was a Ford fix back in the day before they improved the "O" ring compound.

The PR Valve problem causes faults exactly as you describe and occurs when people try and use log splitters, you can replace the PRV with the later one. Try a pressure test gauge on your output pipe and watch what happens.

If you have gasket gunge in the A. S. Chest it could have stuck the flow control but I would go for adjusting the Relief Valve on the splitter first.
