FMD loader ?'s

IS there a specific type of loader that has to go on my 54 FMD? I have read that most will not fit and have looked at a few. The attaching points do seem to be at different locations on the frame betwen mine and the others. I am also hoping to get one with hydraulic bucket not a trip bucket. Any wisdom out there.
Thanks

Many loaders are sold with "mounting brackets" for a specific tractor. Not too much chance that new ones are available, so you'll have to get a welding shop to make them or shop the salvage yards. They show up once in a while. The original loader was the Sherman Brothers loader made in Minneapolis by Johnson Hydraulics. Usually in a combination with a backhoe attachment. You'll need the front pump and reservoir and drive shafting. Also, they often came with powersteering when equipped with a front end loader.

Thanks CDMN
I would like to see a set up on another FMD but have not been able to find one close by. I am a visual kind of guy and like to see things in operation.

Hello Ninenails. I have a 57 Major with a Ford 713 backhoe and loader on it that I'm just getting into unsticking the engine. I'm in central Massachusetts if you are close enough to make the trip and want to see the loader and its connections.

Cameron,
Thanks but I live in Washigton State so that would be quite a trip for me to make at this time. I appreciate your offer and if I am on the East Coast I may drop you a line to see if you are available, and you hopefuly have your FMD unstuck by then.
If you have photos of the mounting areas, brackets, pump and such I would like to see those things specifically.

I just bought a 1956 FMD with a Massey Ferguson Davis Loader model number 102-C with a Sherman Backhoe. The pump is in the front of this FMD and it is for both front and back end loaders. Now the bad thing is that I'm in North Central Mass. BUT what I could do for you is get some pictures of the way it is set up on this FMD.

(quoted from post at 01:45:23 08/17/09) That would be great, thank you.

Ninenails,

Here are some pictures for you to look at..

Larry ( and anyone else with a Davis loader )
I just bought a Davis that was made for a Ford 800, which makes it too narrow to put on my '55 FMD. Would you mind taking some measurements for me so I can cut and widen the frame to mount correctly on my Fordson? The inner width at the bucket and loader arm pivot points are key for me.

Thanks in advance!
