1919 Fordson rubber tire wheels

Hi guys
I found a guy on craigslist who had steel wheels off a old Fordson, after inquiring about what remains of the tractor he told me he just scrapped 3. I know... I couldn't believe it either. He said they were all there except some misc pieces were missing. He had no interest in them and was cleaning up his yard. So long story short, he has wheels and tires off a 1919 Fordson that he is looking to get rid of, he was unsure of the tire condition, but thought the fronts were ok. I paid him $300 for the steels for yard art, guessing the tires/wheels would be less. He is located in the Tri Cities area in Washington, if anyone is interested I will pass along his number. It is pretty sad to see things like this go to scrap, especially when just one part off these tractors that is needed by someone would easily bring the value of scrap right now and they are irreplaceable . I guess if he is just scrapping everything why would someone want to pay for any parts off him, are the wheels free?

Weird to hear of a 1919 fordson rubber tyre wheel as they were either all iron wheels or vulcanized tyres such as that on an industrial.

It might be a 1949 fordson then it will be fordson model n rubber wheels?

Hi Audio
I haven't seen them, but I did buy a set of steel wheels off of him and they are correct for the vintage. Not 2n wheels.

Back around 1970 on a trip West I saw a rubber tired Fordson in a dealers back lot somewhere in OK, so they did exist.

I guess it is certainly something that can be added and many were swapped and changed about but not sure if it was a factory fit item on an early model F. I have one on rubber but it was a modification for a vineyard.

Rubber tires on a 1919 Fordson is neither improbable or rare!
Most likely the outer parts of the original steel wheels were cut off and rims for rubber tires welded on, probably done in the mid to late '30s! Much as the Amish do, in reverse, today! My uncles had a Fordson that this had been done to, in fact, we found the cut off steel outer wheels and the fenders for them long after the tractor was replaced with a new '43 Farmall H.

one year at the Rolag steam show, I noticed an early Fordson in what appeared to be rnning condition, sitting on a flatbed trailer.
The unusual thing was it had steel? / cast? disc rear wheels with about 4X4 inch solid rubber tires. The tires were smooth, no tread pattern.

Never got to talk to anyone to learn where they used that tractor with the unusual wheels.

Are you thinking of the Fordson F Industrial? They had vulcanised rubber on iron wheels. On my list of to gets an industrial :p
