I recently bought a running 1961 dexta positive ground tractor. When I first got it I messed around on it for a day and it was idling high and smoking just a little. Did a little research and figured I need a governor diapragm so i ordered one. In the meantime I noticed that i had left the key on. I tried to start it and it just clicked. Tried charging the battery and same thing. Put a new battery in it and same thing. Clicks once then theres no indicator lights or anything. I found I had a bad connection on the battery cable that connects to the - side of the battery which runs to the starter, so i put a new cable end on it. Tried to start it again and my + cable which runs to the block started smoking and the insulation melted off of it. Both cables felt really hot. What could be my problem?
