Major vs Major super

I am wondering what they did to increase the horsepower of the Major Super over the Mark1.
The bore, stroke, and compression are the same.I am presuming larger injectors and camshaft timeing of valves and injectors.
Does anyone know for sure?
What would it take to upgrade my MarkI to a Super horsepower?
Thanks in advance for all advice on this.

Recommend visiting Oscars Fordson site.
Did some internet research, and there was mention of 23 and 21 BTDC timing discussions.
I cannot access Oscar's site due to being on a LAN that prohibits looking at such...

If you have a Mk 1 Major you would need:

New Block,
New Head,
New Injection Pump,
New Manifold,
New Crankshaft.
New Valves,
New Timing Gears.

This is just a start.

The Mk 1 Major had a fragile crankshaft which could break if transported incorrectly. It was changed in 1954. The other parts changed over the years. The main increase in HP came from improved breathing (manifold and head), different injection pump (Simms Minimec), higher revs (1600 to 2200).

The best way to increase your hp is to fit a Super engine or even a Ford 590E six cylinder one. The gearbox and rear axle will take it, I have seen a tractor with a Rolls-Royce Merlin (1500hp) powering through a standard Major gearbox and rear axle.

I was wrong about being a mark 1.It is a 1956 Major Diesel, even so,it appears that major mods would be in order to upgrade the HP.
I really don't have a problem with power,it can break traction without breaking a sweat,as is,I was merely curious.

Another question:
What effect would installing a smaller muffler on this tractor have, aside from the obvious increase in exhaust back pressure, could it do long term harm or damage to the engine?
Thanks in advance for all help and advice on this.
