Hi taking an educated guess from memory of Dexta's and also having a 6 cyl Perkins based on that motor type that's frost cracked. The crack is probably on the left side behind the fuel pump. Maybe up towards where the block and head meet and runs parallel to the head. That is the weakest part of the block water jacket i believe.

It's a pretty common thing on that motor, as long as it's not leaking water internally, and still runs or turns over.Or a huge chunks not popped out, there are options like a skilled guy welding it, or Drilling the ends of the crack,to stop it traveling further. Then plastering chemical metal on, adding a block repair sealant to the cooling system at the same time and hoping for the best. Yeah it looks ruff doing that but it's not a huge value tractor to spend big bucks fixing either really.

it's a big chunk our of the starboard side that was i am sure punch out by a rod, i just watched classic tractor fever and saw
one that was restored, i have restored many ford 9, 2 and 8n' but am a numbskull when it comes to a diesel fordson, i live in
west michigan and am looking for someone with knowledge and parts for fordsons

thanks dave

Dave. Not sure where you are in west MI. I may be
able to help get a line on tractor you could salvage if
you decide to go that route. 2 dextas in our family
one restored and one pending They usually have
3 cyl Perkins Diesel engine our restored one has
had the engine overhaul at a nice engine shop in
southern MI.

Vidaliaman, If you decide not to repair the Fordson Dexta and consider parting it out. I would be interested in getting a few items from you. Please keep me in mind if you decide to part it out. Thanks Charlie
