Don't want to damage threads on shaft.

Liberally apply penetrating fluid to threads. Soak down. Take a rubber mallet and whack the wheel from underneath. I have never had one that was impossible to take off.

Worst case, take the covered nut, with a gap to wheel, use a puller and remove the wheel.

Thanks for the reply. I have not even started trying to get the nut off yet, I assumed it would have to be heated with a torch but was wondering what people have experienced removing steering wheel. I have 2 dexta's both need new steering wheels one needs fuel tank worked on.
