I have a guy here in Australia that is having issues with a Fordson power major - the starter will not engage the flywheel if you push the mechanical linkage to engage the bendix slowly - if you hit it hard it will connect -I removed the starter and the starter gear does not move all the way out to the nose of the starter when you push the arm on the starter - if you hit it hard -it will throw the gear all the way out - the starter shop told him there is nothing wrong with the starter, the flywheel needs to be changed! - the flywheel teeth have the corner worn and have been touched up by the starter shop, but the teeth still are full length, not ground off the end - does anyone have any experience with these starters? - I believe that there is an issue with the starter, NOT the flywheel - I believe there is something bent or worn in the throw out assembly -- thanks in advance
