Intermitten Idle Symptom

Super Dexta previously stuck, has intermitten symptoms and I may answer my own question as I go...
Runs good at above (I'm guessing-haven't installed new tach) 1100 RPM. Gets sloppy at idle, then another time, idles perfect. Otherwise engine has all the good sounds, almost no blow-by and almost clear exhaust even under load.
Starter (new-key type) spins it fast and smooth, sometimes it catches, other times it don't, but pull it three feet in high and its running, every time. And unless you idle, it sound perfect. Like a fresh broke in rebuild.
Here is what I have replaced so far: Fuel primer valve, lift pump- starter and cables and of course battery. Unaffected areas are new steering wheel, and all bolts on rear LR tire loop.
I noticed a small-bubble from one of the gaskets on the head block off plates aside manifold when I was hosing off the engine. Ordered gaskets. One of my return line atop injectors has a missing seal washer(ordered), but no leak. Lot of cleaning throughout fuel system. I am also going to order the injector seals, as I have pulled injectors many time while working on it without replacing them.

Does anyone know where I can get an adapter to run a compression test?

Another Unstuck Dexta

1. Washer Injector (bodY to head)Sealing (9/16 x 13/16 x 1/16) PN 118358-ES. Need 3, SPAREX does not show them. Where can I get them?

2. Sparex # S.42230 Gasket - Combustion Chamber 81803686 or 957E6K003 2 (EZ find)

3. Washer, 21/64 ID 1/2 OD x 1/32, PN 118357-ES Where can I get them, these are the injector return line seals above injector?

The main reason, I am posting this, is if I am having problems, I am sure there are others, and these are common parts, but not consumables. Replace once, and unless you mess with it, never again till rebuild. Can anyone help with a source? Sources?

Wayne. I'm new to Fordson. But, not a new to wrenching by all means. Parts I'm not of any help. Compression tester can be made IF you have a old injector laying around. Disassemble the injector. Remove the nozzle and drill a hole into it 1/4" will work fine. Bolt injector to head. Thread a high pressure hose onto the top of injector followed by a high pressure gauge. I would like to think you'll need at least 10k psi gauge with a check valve and a bleeder valve in there too. I made one for a Cummins as they are way too pricey for a one time use. Made mine for about $30.

Over here, we have hardware vendors which sell a wide variety of industrial and military surplus hardware. I'm sure they have many different copper washers. Injector repair specialists must surely have them also.

Give me time, and I can find a part!

These are the return line washers. While my book says you need 3, just for the bottom, in practical use, need 6, one on top and one on bottom.

I apologize for reversing the use of these two washers. The good news is a google/bing search in the future will help out the next guy.

As for the copper/thin metal return line washers, I intend to order quite a few, and replace them on my Dextas, and I'm up to four on hand now and one I haven't troubleshot and started on. I'll use a handfull of them.

I fully believe in my gut before I even put the washers on, this accounts for much of the Dexta cranking then starting issues we often confuse with wear. Minute air bleed off the culprit.

I have one Dexta, I rebuilt myself, that hadn't been started in over 6 months (need to replace tranny). Just over freezing (34 d) and bump, she started without priming. Those washers were new out of scrap (excess) washers I had from an old govt DRMO buy.

Injector return washers, 118357ES were available at Amazon online. $4.33 and they had 7 on hand. Took all of them. Ultimately, the parts could have been picked up at a local FNH dealer in Richmond, but at a cost of 20 cents more for each, needing ordered, so would get them at the same time, FEDEX at my farm.

Also, I found the complete return line from my parts Super Dexta, where I had taped the washers to each bleeder nut, so will get the old girl running perfect this weekend.

I have a Dexta 152 rebuild kit, that has one of the Combustion Chamber gaskets 957E6K003, so will just use one from the kit.
