Where have they all gone?

I am looking for a good super major and a good power major. My Father had one of each and a 5000 major when I was growing up but it seems they have been a junk yard bound item in most states.

I saw a craigslist add the other day. i believe the guy had 3 of them for sale. it was in either MN or WI. i live in southeast ohio and i saw a few on the adds around me too

There weren't too many of them around 'here', and the ones that were sold tended to be used hard and beat into the ground. The handful of good ones are tractor pullers now. I know in other parts of the country they were more popular.

If you are anywhere near Southern Manitoba Canada, there are usually a couple available if you check the usual online classifieds. Prices are a bit high though.

There'a a real nice power major on craigslist in Boulder Colorado, the thing looks great, the ad said he tried to sell it but had no takers so now he's listing it for parts. great looking tractor, wish I could afford it.

Hi
If you live in a dry climate state a lot of them have been scrapped if the tin is in very good condition. This has been popular round me in Manitoba. It is a tractor that has had it"s day. and most of the good tin has been shipped back to the U.k where it is a wet climate and rust/rot took over. There are thousands of them over there with bad tin.
Guys doing a concourse showroom restoration want original tin not the cheap repro stuff.
I used to sell rebuilt major tractors for 3- $5000+ if it had a loader now I can"t give them away, so quit doing them and just buy them for my own collection, or if the odd local guy wants parts the wreckers don"t have.
A lot of the ones round here are over priced by a couple of thousand plus from what I look at and condition.
There are more powers than the last of the blue grey 63/ 64 5000 around.
I think guys waited for the new 5000 or went a different color tractor around that year.
The last one of those 5000"s I sold was nice all working dual clutch painted for $3000, I got lucky I sold it as it would still be here now at that price. some of last years Fordson tractors are re appearing now on Kijiji Winnipeg for the same crazy price as last year, if a guy has a good memory for tractors.
Just keep looking and you might find a very nice looking/running bargain.
Regards Robert
