Fordson truck - yes truck

I've also seen pictures of Fordson trucks,a friend called the other day,he has two titles for Pontiac trucks,a 36 and a 39,checked on line and they made some also!

I'll try to get a picture and post it but as I understand it is not a complete Fordson tractor with dump bed (I have seen one of those in Pennsylvania), it is the Fordson engine and radiator assembly as power unit then a separate rear axle and a flat bed.

Mike, do you know where I could find the pictures you saw?

As I recall, that was not a Henry ford product. Just someone trying to capitalize off his name. Lawsuits followed. But the company folded before they concluded.
The reason Henry"s tractors were called Fordsons was because someone beat him to the name "Ford" and he couldn"t use it for tractors.

lots of "unknowns" back in the day, 20 years ago i used to shock the locals with a chevy corvair truck, nobody around here had ever seen a solid sided van, no windows except on the back doors, van based on a corvair, until i drove up in one, should have kept that one but i bought it for storage as it didnt leak inside, and a corvair nut was just getting too free with his wad of cash, so we traded

Chuck,Just type in Fordson truck in the upper right corner on Google and hit enter, click on images and go from there, there are some with Perkins engines also listed in the 40's.

Hello Joe , You are ABSOLUTELY WRONG about the use of FORDSON for the tractors . FORDSON was for HENRY FORD and SON . While Henry Ford still had share holders in his company in the early days of FOMOCO they did what to have any thing to do with Tractors , so Henry started another company to build tractors HENRY FORD and SON and built the FORDSON TRACTORS . Better read the story of Henry Ford again you missed that part . Thanks Tony

The Fordson Thames Trader was built until 1957 under the Fordson name. It was called the Ford Thames Trader until 1965.

The Fordson New Major was not based on a Fordson truck engine from the 40s. The Major diesel engine was designed specifically for the tractor. It was put in 4D trucks in 1953 or 1954,a year or 2 after the tractor started production.

Wrong...yes but absolutely wrong might be a little strong. There actually was a company formed in Nebraska called Ford Tractor circa 1915 with the intention of gaining Henry Ford's permission to use his name. Ford did not approve and they folded a short while later. This was right around the same time Ford created Fordson due to FOMOCO's lack of interest in tractors. This info from Pripps and Moreland's Ford Tractors: N-Series, Fordson, Ford and Ferguson, 1914-1954.
