Fordson e27n P6

Just wondered how popular this model was in the US and Canada. This is the model with the Perkins 6 cylinder diesel either factory fitted or conversion.
Any ideas on where I might find one?
Thanks
Bill

Hi Bill, I am responsable for the feature tractors at the Newark tractor show and this last one I featured Perkins engined exhibits. I managed to get 17 E27Ns with P6 engines and 9 with L4 convertions. If I here of one down here I will post on here for you. MJ

Hi there I would like to talk to you about these Perkins powered units as well as some other Perkins units. How can I e-mail you? Thanks in advamce. J.

I think it can be said that there was zero interest in the US when new. A few have been imported from Canada for restoration.
In Canada, they may have sold 1 out of 1000 tractors. Remember, it is cold up there, and gas tractors were preferred. Diesel farming started with crawlers and became popular in wheel tractors with the John Deere R. The New Major had fairly good reputation both in US and Canada.
I have noticed only about two E27N P6 for sale in about the last 30 years. A couple restored examples were at the Austin, MB show in 2003. The Montevideo, MN show in 2011 had two E27NP6 crawlers on display.

If my email link shows up on the bottom right of this then you can email me direct. If this isnt available I need to find out how its done without making it public.

Hi. This was actually a very good 1st?? generation deisel machine. Very few appear to have been exported simply because the home agricultural system bought them as fast as they were produced. Just consider it. Almost 50% more power than the TVO E27N. 3 point hydrualics. two companies(at least) were producing Six speed conversions. Very Economical for its era. Easy start usually in all conditions. Genuine three furrow tractor. Worked equally well on rubber or iron wheels It was only produced privately on the back of the E27N at first. Then Fordson made/converted them at factory level. They were certainely on a par with anything else being produced at the time. only one serious downer. No power steering. A day with a front loader was an absolute killer. Good machine but I actually disliked them, why? dunno just did. As for buying one--- they come up quite often for sale in the Tractor and Machinery Mag(comic). If you are in UK you are looking at something in the region of £6000+ for a good one in running order. Mike

They are not common here in Canada but there were a few, I have three that were all purchased in Eastern Ontario and am hoping to make 2 out of the three. Two are original but the third had the original P6 replaced with a marine version of the engine after the factory motor blew up. I don't know of any more in the area and even e27n's and N's are getting hard to find now.
