'54 FMD head gasket

My mechanic is trying to find the old data for a labour quote on doing this job. Anyone know how long it takes? We might scrap it if the price is too high.

Hi depends on what you are gonna do. If its just take the head off clean all the block threads and put new gasket in/set valves then a few hours to a morning. if you are gonna get head planed and valves ground then it will be expensive. why not join the fordson discussion forum at www.fordsontractorpages.nl and we could talk you through it, if you are mechanically inclined/ Have some tools/ torque wrench, and wanted to do some of it your self and save some money

You can actually do this yourself with the manual as long as you have a little mechanical aptitude. BUT don' overlook the small O ring in the block.
