A follow up from my previous post asking how to get the Dexta back together.

Thanks for the help everyone. I finally got it back together by spinning the flywheel. Now the pto will not disengage. The drive clutch disengages fine but even with the chutch adjusted all the way tight the pto still stays partially engaged. I'm thinking I need to split the tractor again and adjusting the bolts on the pto section of the clutch out more. Any other suggestions?

Well I split the Dexta again. I was amazed how much easier it was the second time. Made my own alignment tool adjusted the bolts on the PTO clutch fingers and put it back together. Works fine now. Thanks everyone for your help.

Terry,

I have a manual that covers all Fordsons but yours is much more detailed. I think you are right though, I will probably have to split it again. At least the second time won't be as difficult now that I've done it once.

Thank you.

Thanks for the information. I did hook up to my 6' finish mower for a while and no luck. Maybe I need to use something with more drag like the brush hog. It's worth a try before splitting the tractor again.

with mine dexta , the pto won)t disengage when it hasn)t been used in a long while. then to solve this i will use the dexta on my bushog then after some use the pto will start to disengage again. this works for me! just be careful and good luck.

Do you have the manual that describes how to adjust the clutch? I can email a PDF of the manual if that would help. If you have the linkage adjusted correctly I fear you are looking at another tractor split. I included a link to the manuals.
