Fordson Dexta Parts Questions

Does anyone have a Fordson Dexta they are parting out? I would be interested in parts to bring my Dexta back to orginal condition. I have acquired a 59 Fodson Dexta Dsl, that needs some TLC. the tractor runs but needs a few issues addressed.

The ttractor has a slight miss while running. I am pretty sure it is from the mechanical fuel pump on the side. The fuel pump has a pretty good leak and I believe it's sucking some air making the tractor run with a miss. Does this sound right or could it be something else???

Was driving the tractor and the throttle reved up and I tried to throttle it down by pushing the throttle back down. No change. I haven't check to see why it would not slow down. Any ideas??? Hopefully I will be ablke to check on the tractor this weekend

Thank You Charlie

As for revving up: Three possibilities.

1. Diaphram in rear of injector pump losing seal.
2. Line from diaphram to butterfly valve on right side engine leaking vacuum. Vacuum induction on right side engine leaking
3. Rings worn to point of crankcase sucking or rings cracked from ether.

Diaphram is EZ to replace. Pneumatic govenor piping back to air induction is basic. Since you state it was at high RPMs, I'd suspect # 1 if it is constant and predictable and #3 if hard to start, acts up only when warm, and oil level drops after use.

As for PARTS:

This site sells basic parts.

Walts (Unger Tractor) of Mexico Missouri is a source for almost any Dexta part.

Parts manuals are available on-line free with a little research. There is gentleman from Germany who play by play documented the entire rebuild to new condition of a similar early Dexta. He has a parts manual on his site. Oscars Fordson site has service manuals as well.

At this point, there is hardly a Dexta part you cannot find online. However a trip to your FNH/CNH dealer may result in that look "do I have a third eye" when you ask for Dexta parts.

Just do some research with your internet search engine.

BTW: I live in Lunenburg VA and have a running Dexta and running Super Dexta. I have a Super Dexta parts tractor, but I doubt I have any parts left you'd need.

Thanks Wayne, for your ideas, I will check it out. I hope its as easy as a new Diaphram. I live in Chesterfield, South of Richmond. I travel through Lynchburg for work sometimes. Feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]
Thanks again for the help.
