I'm a 8N guy but have aquired a Fordson Dexta Diesel. Where can I find and Serial No. for this tractor. I'm not wanting to restore it but thought maybe I could part it out or trade for some 8N parts.

It is stamped on the vertical part of the transmission housing on the left side (clutch side) where the engine bolts to tranny. It is probably not visible unless you scrape the dirt, grease and paint off. Hope you enjoy your Dexta, it's a 8N on Steroids; small/comfortable/powerful for its size. There are several sites dedicated to the Fordson brand so post back if you need help. Mine is a 1961 with live power and a good runner. brownsmule

I found a number on the right side of the transmission just under the shift lever. The number is 957E7005 with EnFi above it. I couldn't find a number on the clutch housing however, I didn't have time to do a lot of scraping. This number seems to be for a 1958 however this tractor hase a simms fuel pump and a Fordson Dexta decal on the hood which should put it in the 1963 range. Any suggestions?

957E7005 is a number found on all Dextas. The number that you are looking for is on the flange where the engine bolts to the clutch housing. All Dextas had Simms pumps, too. The early ones had vacuum governors and the later ones had the Simms Minimec pump with the mechanical governor.

Don't part out a good tractor, sell it to someone who will appreciate it.

Thanks for the information. I will clean the area where the serial no is located and find out the model. The tractor seems to be complete except for the head and exhaust for the engine. I am restoring an 8N now and don't have time to work with this tractor. The tractor is located in Central Lousiana if anyone is interested in a restoration project.

I thought that it was a complete running tractor. It may be a good one to part out, after all. I'd make you an offer on it, if I was a couple thousand miles closer.

Yep, it is a good one to part out. Maybe someone a little closer need some parts. Everything is there except the head and exhaust. Thanks
